The Wonder of Easter

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

Easter reminds us of something astonishing. The God of the universe, the One who spoke creation into existence, who ordered the cells in our bodies, and who upholds the laws of nature by His power, who is not lacking in anything. The God who is complete, perfect, and full in Himself created humanity knowing that we would neither love him or treat him as God.

He knew we would rebel. He knew we would refuse to honour Him as God. He knew that sin would bring ruin, guilt, and death into His world. And yet, even before history unfolded, God’s plan of redemption was already in place.

Throughout the whole story of Scripture, we see God patiently preparing the way for salvation. Then, in the fullness of time, He sent His Son. Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, came into this world with a clear purpose: to bear our sin and suffer in our place. At the cross, Jesus endured the terrible judgment that our sin deserved so that God might justly forgive us and lovingly call us His children.

And Easter does not end at forgiveness alone. Through Christ, we are brought near to God, filled with His Holy Spirit, and given new hearts to see His glory and beauty. The wonder of Easter is not just that Christ died, but that through His death and resurrection sinners can be made alive, adopted, and brought into the joy of knowing God. This Easter, may we stand again in awe of the greatness of God’s love. The Lord of all has made a way for us to belong to Him. That is grace beyond measure.
